Albacore Research Ltd. has released that latest version of ShipConstructor. This 2005 release offers numerous benefits over previous versions, in particular offering new modules : ProfileNest and FlyThrough.

ProfileNest offers both manual and automatic nesting with part and nest tracking, remnant control, heat number tracking, raw stock usage and utilizations, production reports, and nes management tools to minimize human errors and wastage.

The ShipConstructor FlyThrough module allows users to instantly access a virtual reality fly-through of the currently open drawing from within ShipConstructor and get part properties with the click of a mouse button. Utilizing NavisWorks technology, the FlyThrough module is ideal for visualization of product model and creation of promotional material including stunning graphics and movies.

SHIPCONSTRUCTOR MODULES

ShipConstructor's modular based design provides for maximum customization. By separating the suite into task based modules you are able to assemble a ShipConstructor package that best fits your needs. All modules access the same central database providing homogeneous data. The main modules are:

Structure - Rapidly and logically build 3D ship structure using a host of industry specific tools.

Pipe - Generate a pipe model completely integrated into the 3D product model using a catalog based system with intelligent connections.

HVAC - Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning. Fully integrated with the established Structure, Pipe and Outfit 3D product modelling modules, HVAC will aid your team in the complex task of ensuring that all systems work smoothly together in the typically restricted space in ship hulls.

Penetrations - Penetrations lets the user easily implement spec driven piping penetrations in structure that are associated with their sizes.
- Adds sleeves, collars, and doubler plates to penetrations through structure for pipe.
- User defined unique ID&s for all penetrations
- Provides a full approval mechanism starting with the proposal of placing a penetration, through sign-off by the specialist, to the final implementation. In order to safeguard the process,the Penetrations module comes with numerous control functions such as

User Permissions - Each user working on a project receives permissions assigned by the project manager, preventing users working on the product model outside their expertise.

Standardization - Penetrations are defined in the catalog, assigned to pipe sizes and grouped into specs.

Approval Process - The process is database controlled and enforces all parties to do their job at specific times. A revision log is generated automatically.

Revision History - Penetrations may be changed after approval which starts the approval process over again.

Outfit - Outfit your designs to improve layout design, full interference checking,and accurate CG and weight calculations.

Build Strategy - The build strategy can be checked and modified visually using a function that allows displaying of any build level and assignment of parts to different assemblies. The Build Strategy module allows convenient assignment and reorganization of the build order through a modernized interface.

Manual Nest - Manually nest all parts and let ShipConstructor track part changes and revisions. ManualNest is tightly integrated into the central database providing features to nest by assembly, stock, material, surface treatment, port/starboard, like/mirror cut, and full remnant control. The ability to check already nested parts for changes allows you to start nesting in parallel to the structural modeling. Changed parts can be located and re-nested any time. This is specifically helpful when late pipe penetrations are made, reducing time to production. Also included is a feature allowing users to nest flatbar complete with end cuts should flatbar stock be temporarily unavailable. ManualNest can be complemented by the AutomaticNest module.

Automatic Nest - Automatically nest all parts and let ShipConstructor track part changes and revisions.Nesting thousands of parts just got a lot faster and easier with the optional AutomaticNest feature. Use the proven NestLib engine from Geometric Software Solutions Inc. to achieve high plate utilization.Simply select the AutomaticNest option when inserting the parts into the nest drawing, tell Structure what plates sizes to make available and then Structure and AutomaticNest handle the rest quickly and efficiently. After the automatic nesting is complete, all parts are inserted into the Structure nest drawing, just as if it had been done manually. Now use Structure's powerful manual nesting tools to tweak the nest configuration for maximum efficiency.
