Moscow Shipyard requested Vripack
Naval Architects to design and engineer a 45m Displacement Motor
Yacht capable of both, unencumbered sailing on the ocean as well
as leisure sailing on Russian canals and lakes. Vripack Naval Architects
did the interior and exterior design, and the structural and outfitting
design, as well as the mechanical and marine engineering.
The entire structure, hull and superstructure, were modelled in
ShipConstructor based on the classification drawings. Specific production
requirements, due to Moscow Shipyard’s practises and their well
laid out machine park, were fully implemented. Due to the production
workflow, shop floor space and crane capabilities, the hull and
superstructure were split into modules and intermediate assemblies.
This allowed the yard personnel to work on multiple modules at the
same time, utilizing a large amount of floor space and efficient
distribution of their welders and fitters.
The 3D structure provided the necessary background for the routing
of piping and ducting using ShipConstructor’s Pipe module. Having
the piping and structural design processes run very close to each
other made structural optimisations for pipe routing easy to do
and made penetrations and lightening holes for free passage for
piping and ducts easy to establish.
The piping and machinery foundations were also incorporated and
further integrated with the hull structure.
